Choosing your Career

Many different walks of life result in a never-ending expanse of jobs. Every niche of the market is being captured but at the same- time industries never before being dreamed of, are growing their grass roots now. From CRSPR geneticists, to truck drivers, to social media socialites. How can you find out exactly what career suits you?

Last week was my high school’s Career Day Fair. Each business had it’s own table and materials to hook students. The displays were of a varying quality. As the gymnasium was crammed with everyone from police officers, to bank tellers, and everything in between.

But what questions should you ask yourself to determine your career?

  1. What are you passionate about?
  2. What can you see yourself waking up every day & enjoying?
  3. How can you build yourself, your skills & the world…?

One Day at a Time, should be your mentality when pursuing a new career. Especially since the average worker will change their career at least 5 times during their lifetime.

The true test of whether the job you currently have is health is. Do you feel good putting in extra effort or is it not worth it? It’s easier to change your career when you’re not happy, than it is to change your bills when you’re not happy.

As you continue to work through your life you build up a long list of experience. Remember the time you spend at a job is being paid for, but if you invest more of your time and energy you might sow rewards for tomorrow. Even if you don’t stay at a job the amount you gave, returns on investment. Through retirement plans, benefits, and even future employment opportunities.
